Last evening, John Ed Clark (one of the edlers at the church where I attend, Woodward Park Church of Christ) did a presentation on the mission work in South Sudan. John Ed has been heavily involved in work in Ethiopia for many many years and has been involved in establishing many churches as well as involved in "well - drilling" projects bringing clean drinkable water to thousands and thousands of people. He explained that it looks like the work in Sudan will become like that in Ethiopia which is great news. Every time there is a presentation about mission work in another country, it is very inspiring and humbling to me to see the pictures and the excitement of the people there to hear God's Word and be involved in God's work. I love listening to John Ed because he has been to many places and done things and experienced so much, and to still see his passion is amazing to me. One of the things that struck me was that he talked about when he goes to Ethiopia, the people who worship there want to hear the word preached for at least 2 hours, and they will walk miles to hear it. Quite different from here when we drive to church and get antsy if the sermon goes 5 minutes over the slotted time......
